[Style Files] Alicia Vikander in “The Man from UNCLE”

Elissa told me about The Man from UNCLE when it first came out, and I finally got a chance to watch it the other week. It’s a spy movie set in the sixties and based on a television show of the same name. The spies are good looking and hilarious together, the settings around Europe are gorgeous, and the style is absolutely perfect. My particular favorite was Gaby Teller, played by Alicia Vikander. Elissa and I wanted everything from her hair to her outfits to her total attitude. When we first meet her, she’s working in a car garage in East Berlin, somehow making a oil-stained uniform look good. Her outfits than take a turn as she must pretend to be engaged to Armie Hammer’s Illya Kuryakin, who is posing as an antique’s dealer. There’s actually a whole scene where they’re trying to dress her as a Soviet architect’s future wife that’s pretty entertaining.

Anyhow the dresses are short and colorful, the hats wide-brimmed, and the sunglasses glamorous. The movie is fun, stylish, and the bromance/antagonism between Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer is pure hilarity. Not to mention the fun of the actual spy plot!
