[Style Files] Taylor Swift in Wildest Dreams

If you know anything about me, you know I’m a total Swiftie, and I have been before that term was coined. If communication issues hadn’t occurred, I would have gone to see her open up for Brad Paisley at Hershey Park back when she was an opening act. Ask me how many Brad Paisley songs I know. Maybe one. Yeah, I was going to pay for a concert just to go see her be one of two opening acts. I’ve been a fan of Taylor Swift long enough to be very excited by her fairly recent (as in the last few years) interest in fashion and style. Her sundress-cowboy boots combos were cute, but she had model proportions and a versatile face, and I was the kind of 15-year-old that read fashion magazines on the reg. I couldn’t wait for her to get into couture and experimenting with different looks. From her RED album on, I’ve been loving it, and her music video for “Wildest Dreams” does not disappoint. Not only was her styling on point, Joseph Kahn deserves endless praise for his directing. The cinematography is perfection, and the retro feel of the music video is my style dreams come to life. While her yellow dress seen is absolutely gorgeous, I think I prefer bedroom scenes. That’s where the retro feel of the whole shoot comes alive for me, but see for yourself.

Of course, I’m aware there’s “some” controversy over what the video and its nostalgic feel for the fifties imply. What do you think?
